GTA 6 is under development!

Finally, after 9 years of anticipation Rockstar Games dropped the news. In February 2022 they announced that they are developing an unnamed Grand Theft Auto game. This is commonly referred to as GTA 6 or GTA VI.

A massive leak of footage from the gameplay of Grand Theft Auto 6 was leaked in September 2022. This was the first major leak of information and Rockstar Games released an information statement that confirmed the leaked information.

The Grand Theft Auto video game series has become incredible popular since the first game release of GTA 1 back in 1997. The franchise has developed a lot as the technology to create more realistic video games has developed. In 2001 when Rockstar Games took us to Liberty City with GTA III (GTA 3) we officially fell in love with the series. It was the game that removed the classical 90’s feel and took us on the third-person view we all love and enjoy today.

When is GTA 6 coming out?

At the moment, there is no official release date announced for the next GTA game, that rumours say will be named GTA 6 or GTA VI. Experts are talking about late 2023, or more realistically Q1 in 2024. However, if the development of GTA V Online goes well, some people guess that the launch of GTA 6 will be further delayed into late 2024. It is common for video game producers to release games close to Christmas season to enjoy boosted sales during the Holidays. Rockstar Games has had tradition to release new GTA games in September and October:

GTA III – October 2001
GTA Vice City – October 2002
GTA San Andreas – October 2004
GTA Liberty City Stories – October 2005
GTA Vice City Stories – October 2006
GTA IV – October 2009
GTA V – September 2013

Looking at the release date list above it makes sense that the game would be released in late 2024.

GTA 6 release date

When the GTA 6 release date is finally revealed the information on this site will be updated. The most likely release date is currently September or October 2024. No official information about the release date of GTA 6 has been communicated by Rockstar Games.
